Kabul: 40 killed, 140 injured in bomb blast

At least 40 people have been killed and 140 others have been injured in a bomb blast in crowded Sidarat Square in central Kabul. The bomb was hidden in an ambulance and went off at a police checkpoint in an area near foreign embassies and government buildings. Security forces have cordoned off the area as a precautionary measure. Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast, a week after it claimed an attack on the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul in which more than 20 people were killed.
